JOB TITLE: Career/Disability Counselor(Full-Time)
SUPERVISOR: Director, Student Support Services
LOCATION: College of Menominee Nation - Keshena Campus
POSITION SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to assist CMN Students in the areas of career and vocation selection as well as counseling disabled participants in understanding the options available to them. This is a shared position with Student Support Services.  SSS helps low-income, disabled and first generation students stay in college until they earn their baccalaureate degree.  This is a fully grant funded position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•Provide career/vocational advisement services to all CMN students
  a.Assess individual career goals of students
  b.Develop an effective plan to accomplish those goals
  c.Maintain appropriate records
•Provide advisement regarding options available to disabled students
  a.Assess disabled students for accessibility and accommodation needs
  b.Acquire appropriate documentation
  c.Develop an effective plan to meet students’ individual needs
  d.Maintain accurate records
  e.Administer placement test if necessary
  f.Perform other duties as assigned
•Serve as an academic advisor
  a.Assist students in course selection
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will:
  • possess a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, Counseling/Rehabilitation, or related field; a Bachelor’s degree is acceptable with related work experience;
  • possess the ability to facilitate transitions and counsel students toward the realization of their full educational and vocational potential;
  • have previous experience working with individuals with physical and/or learning disabilities;
  • possess knowledge of issues relating to alcohol and drug abuse;
  • possess and demonstrate exemplary counseling and communication skills;
  • have the ability to understand and promote student development and achievement;
  • possess the ability to develop, collect, analyze, and interpret data;
  • have the ability to recognize, appreciate, and serve cultural differences and the special needs of students and families;
  • demonstrate appropriate ethical behavior and professional conduct in the fulfillment of roles and responsibilities.
