POSITION SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to develop and coordinate the health
care occupations programs for CMN students in technical education.
Under the supervision of the NACTEP Project Director, the Health Care
Program Coordinator is responsible for the following:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach up to 15 credits per semester assigned
courses in Medical Assistant, Medical Transcription, and Medical
Coding, Medication Assistant and other health care programs in
coordination and collaboration with Dean of Nursing.
- Assess students pre-course and post-course to
determine amount of academic progress. Make referrals to
Instructional Case Manager for lack of academic progress, learning
difficulties or other concerns,
- Assess student skills and make referrals for
lack of academic progress, learning difficulties or other concerns.
- Coordinate sites for practicum and clinical
experiences.
- Develop/update curricula for the assigned
courses/community education classes and integrate instruction with
current technological tools.
- Coordinate the instruction and mentor adjunct
health care instructors.
- Coordinate curriculum development and current
industry certifications.
- Assist with employer linkages and job
placement for program students.
- Develop Mastery of Technical Skills Check-off
Chart for Medical Transcription, Medical Coding, Medication
Assistant, Medical Assistant and other health care programs.
- Recruit technical education students in
partnership with Student Services personnel.
- Advise technical education students in
partnership with Student Services personnel.
- Develop strategies aimed at increasing student
retention in partnership with Student Services personnel.
- Maintain and update laboratory equipment and
software.
- Assist in the preparation and administration
of the budget.
- Participate in CMN committee, accreditation,
and assessment processes.
- Develop and facilitate health care occupations
technical education advisory committee with employer
representatives.
- Fulfill any other duties assigned by the
NACTEP Project Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Health Care or
Specific Certifications in Medical Assistant, Medical Transcription,
Medication Assistant, Medical Coding field or other health care
occupations.
- Meet the qualifications for Wisconsin
technical college educators.
- 3 years teaching experience in an institution
of higher learning or other training environment preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong computer skills.

Ability to facilitate transitions and counsel students toward the
realization of their full educational and career potential.

Previous experience working with individuals with learning
difficulties.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service,
organizational skills, as well as the ability to interact with
diverse populations.
- Knowledge of technical education programs and
apprenticeships available in northeast Wisconsin.
