CMN and Spirit of Sovereignty Share Holiday Spirit with Tribal Children

The Spirit of Sovereignty Fund, the College of Menominee Nation, and the Menominee Recreation Department are partnering in support of programming for children in the tribal community.

All share the belief that family bonding is especially important around the holidays when families come together and children's hopes are high. Helping to make sure that local little ones have some Christmas magic are the Spirit of Sovereignty Fund (Ernie Stevens, Jr., Oneida), the College of Menominee Nation (President Verna Fowler), and Menominee Recreation Department (Duane "Buckle" Waukau).

Pictured here with local children are CMN Vice President Chad Waukechon, left, who is representing the College and Spirit of Sovereignty Fund in presenting a check for $500 to Waukau. The gift is in support of the Recreation Department's 2012 "Christmas with Santa" event planned for 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Keshena Primary School.
