Summer at CMN included time for teachers to be learners.

More than three dozen area teachers and teachers-to-be shared classrooms and laboratories this summer on the College of Menominee Nation’s Keshena campus. The week-long learning session was the annual CMN STEEP Institute, with a focus this year on plants and soil.

STEEP – which stands for STEM Teachers of Excellence Project – is a National Science Foundation project to encourage and enhance education in science, technology, engineering and math. The institute is sponsored by CMN’s STEEP grant and each year provides enrichment in various STEM fields of study. Attendees include students in the College’s teacher education program and cooperating professional teachers who host CMN students in their classrooms as they complete field experience and student teaching requirements.
