There were scores of happy parents in the audience of the Five Clans Ballroom on Saturday, May 31, when College of Menominee Nation students crossed the stage to accept degrees and diplomas. One who had a special reason to be proud was Ronna Guzman.

In 1995, Guzman and classmate Melody Kobs became the first two graduates of CMN. This year, Guzman's son, Paul Frechette, joined her in the ranks of CMN alumni. Frechette, who graduated with academic honors, was one of 107 individuals in the Class of 2014 and one of 10 earning a diploma in the technical program, Electricity.

Guzman's note on the CMN Facebook commencement photo gallery reads: "Always proud that I was one of two of the very first graduates at CMN!! and I just love how far CMN has come since then! Very proud of my son's hard work as well."

With Guzman and Kobs as the original two alumnae, and all graduates since then, CMN now claims more than 900 alumni.
