2018 Earth Day Activities at CMN

Wednesday, April 25

 

  • 11 a.m.–noon - Pre-contact food cooking competition: Bring your pre-contact dishes to the Cultural Learning Center to be judged. Prizes will be awarded. Dishes can be registered up until 11 a.m.
  •  

  • 12–4 p.m. - Exhibits Open: Explore the tables and exhibits that are set up in the northern most parking lot. Learn from local exhibiters about a variety of sustainability topics that include: Forest health; Menominee Tribal Enterprise; Healthy living, Agriculture, and much more. There will also be local vendors selling their products.

     

    Earth Week Art Show: Stop in and visit the art exhibits in the Cultural Learning Center. Learning Path: Walk the Learning Path and stop at the station along the way to learn about plant and plant communities, soil types, phenology, pollinators and much more.

     

    Visit SDI: Learn about SDI and the work we do on campus and in the community. Stop in and view the bio-mass heating unit to learn about alternative energy uses.
  •  

  • 5 p.m. - Do-it-Yourself: Make your very own bottle of nontoxic household cleaning spray. Menomin Hawpetoss will provide a presentation on the importance of using chemical free cleaning products.
  •  

  • 6–7 p.m. - Community Feast at the Cultural Learning Center: Join us for a community feast. Bring your dish bags, pre-contact food, and family. A limited number of dish bags will be provided and prizes will be awarded. Wade Fernandez will provide music.
  •  

  • 7–7:45 p.m. - Open mic.
  •  

  • 7:45–8 p.m. - Prizes and closing.
